I. Background
Thammasat University’s Research Unit in Urban Futures and Policy (UFP) is a research unit specialized in Urban Sustainability and Urban Development policy. We advocate our members and researchers’ interests, to promote the development of Sustainability and Resilient in urbanization and city development.

We are seeking a Data Analyst(s) to support our project: Integrated Urban Climate Action for Low-Carbon & Resilient Cities (Urban-Act) funded by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ). In this project, we aim to develop guidelines, workplans, and framework to promote a sustainable and resilient city. Also, to enhance the enabling environment for climate-sensitive and climate-resilient urban development at the local and national levels.
II. Responsibilities:
– Geospatial Data Analysis for Phuket:
• Conduct detailed analysis of geospatial data to understand current urban dynamics and climate impacts.
• Utilize advanced geospatial techniques to interpret data and produce actionable insights.
– Urban Growth Modeling:
• Develop comprehensive urban growth models for Phuket, considering various future growth scenarios.
• Use predictive modeling to forecast urban expansion and assess the impact on climate resilience and sustainability.
– Climate Action Framework Development:
• Contribute to the creation of guidelines, workplans, and frameworks that support low-carbon and resilient urban development.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to integrate climate-sensitive strategies into urban planning processes.
– Reporting and Presentation:
• Prepare detailed reports and visualizations to communicate findings to project stakeholders.
• Present data-driven insights and recommendations to local and national authorities.
III. Requirements:
– Educational Qualifications:
• Master’s degree or higher in Geospatial Analysis, Data Science, Urban Planning, Environmental Science, or a related field.
– Professional Experience:
• Proven experience in data analysis, particularly within Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and geospatial data.
• Familiarity with urban growth modeling and predictive analytics.
– Technical Skills:
• Proficiency in geospatial analysis tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar platforms.
• Strong programming skills in Python, R, or other relevant languages for data analysis and modeling.
– Communication and Collaboration:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly and concisely.
• Strong teamwork skills, with a collaborative approach to project development and problem-solving.
– Additional Competencies:
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen attention to detail.
